lying for an easier life?

is it good to lie if it means an easier life? Adam in Degrassi thought it would be easier if he stayed as Gracie. its heartbreaking to see him self harm. i LOVE Clare in this episode. she says if Gracie isn't who he truly is than he can be Adam.
